Our team

Dr. Mata is a highly trained pharmacologist, teacher and medical Anthropologist. His areas of expertise include drug design, natural product formulation, herbal medicine, community health and wellness. A career scientist, he is the inventor of the proprietary formulation that is the foundation of Ömë Naturals.

Derris received B.S. in biology with a chemistry minor in 1968.  He began his career teaching secondary school for 3 years and continued graduate work in chemistry and education. He obtained his first pharmacy degree in 1973 at University of Louisiana-Monroe and began his 45 years of pharmacy experience working in the hospital pharmacy.  His wealth of experience includes clinical and retail practice in hospitals, care centers, family owned pharmacies and large corporate retail pharmacies. In 1990 he completed studies and was awarded a Master of Pharmacy degree from St Louis College of Pharmacy. In 2011 he was presented the National Award as Immunization Champion in U.S. for promoting vaccination clinics from the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the largest association of pharmacists in the United States. His advocacy for immunizations has been widely recognized as a driving force for the organization and promotion of immunization clinics for communities.
